Lindisfarne Mead
Since the 1960’s Lindisfarne Mead have been creating and selling unique alcoholic products created exclusively in their very own winery located on Holy Island. Lindisfarne Mead is inspired by mead having been a drink of historical figures such as St Adian (AD122) who has close connections to the islands religious history. Their bottles of mead even contain the historic theming with motifs off the famous Gospels that where written circa 700 AD printed upon them. Lindisfarne Mead is produced by fortifying wine that is made from fermented grape juice, honey, herbs and pure natural water.
Their visitor showroom which is located just off the village green on Holy Island sees well over 200,000 visitors every year since its opening in 1968 despite their products being sold in various locations around Northumberland. The Lindisfarne Mead Showroom is however the ideal place to pick up your very own mead due to providing the opportunity to sample a selection of their produce from their traditional to favoured varieties and purchase some in a selection of size bottles.
Located just next door the visitor centre is a large gift shop which is the ideal place to get mementos and gifts of you visit to Holy Island.
