Heatherslaw Light Railway
The Heatherslaw Light Railway is a great family friendly short 4mile 15-inch gauge railway that runs between Heatherslaw and Etal along the banks of the River Till. The Railway have a range of carriages suitable for wet, dry weather and wheelchairs that are pulled by their very own steam locomotives “Bunty and “Lady Augusta” or diesel engine “Binky”.
Heatherslaw Station is the railways main station and is the site of a ticket office containing a gift shop and also a children’s activity room complete with a miniature railway set to keep the kids entertained while waiting for departure. Etal Station simply has a platform with tickets being available from the train guard. However, Etal Station is just a stone’s throw away from Etal Castle and paths to the local village making it the perfect way to arrive in Etal.
