Description
The Holy Island Causeway Indicator is a cleaver gadget which enables you to quickly see if it is safe to cross the causeway! During safe times the indicator will glow green and during unsafe times it will turn red. This is the perfect device to have in the home and even hotels!
Inventor Andy Stanford Clark (@andysc) used his technical knowhow to create this device and has teamed up with Places in Northumberland through our Causeway twitter (@HolyIslandCause) to make this available to everyone.
In recognition of the dedication and bravery of the RNLI make every day and the rescues they perform on the causeway on a too frequent basis, part of the money raised from every purchase will be donated to the RNLI. The rest will cover production costs and support the upkeep of TravelNorthumberland
The HICI is a 40x40x40mm cube, and is 3D printed in translucent plastic. Power is supplied through a micro-USB connector (cable not supplied). HICI connects to WiFi using WPA2 authentication.
Each HICI can either reflect the “live” causeway crossing times or be set with a 30 minute “off-set” to enable time to safely escape the tide.

I live in Canada so why on earth did I buy the Holy Island Causeway Indicator?
I was born in the UK and have strong ties to Northumberland, and Seahouses in particular. But I’m so far away; I miss the village, the harbour and of course the tides.
Now I have a perspex cube sitting on my office desk glowing green to tell me the tide is out at the moment. And just as silently as an approaching tide, it will change to red as the water rises.
It’s simple, elegant and it just works!
Apparently mine was the first international order and I can confirm it works perfectly, even though I’m five time zones away. I have no doubt it will work just as perfectly in the UK or anywhere else in the world.
