Alnwick Castle Outdoor Harry Potter Screening

On the 3rd of September wizards & witches alike gathered at Alnwick Castle for a special outdoor screening of the film Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone which was hosted by Luna Cinema.

Despite the wet and cold weather fans where out in force to take the chance to witness the film in the cinematic castle grounds. Many dressed in cloaks and Gryffindor scarfs. Hot drinks and refreshments where in plentiful supply to keep help keep the audience warn throughout. The Hilton Doubletree hotel chain where even on hand with complimentary cookies and a photo booth tent!

Alnwick Castle couldn’t have been a more wonderful place for fans to have witness the magic of Hogwarts due to having been a set for the film. Many keen fans would have noticed the broomstick training scene being filmed in the very grounds around them. Some of you may even recognise the castle from Downtown Abbey or the recent Robson Green’s Tales From Northumberland TV series.

Audience member Laura Wood told us that despite the winters night like weather herself and others where not deterred from attending. She described the event as having “Emulated the sense of wonder and awe the characters felt the fist time they see Hogwarts” and sums the event up as a “Truly magical experience!”
