Description: One of the North East’s brightest attractions gets even brighter as we are kept company in the darkness of winter by our stunning SPARKLE lighting installation. Featuring a full spectrum of hues, brightness and star clusters amid the treetops, our Grand Cascade is given a new lease of life, becoming the sort of spectacle that warms the cockles in the cold. Even the windows of our Hornbeam Pergolas are given frames of light that suggestively fade in and out from view, and water jets leap merrily about like volcanic streams.

Description: The festive season is such a special time at Belsay as it was on Christmas Day 1817 that the Middleton Family moved into their grand new hall. Enjoy some seasonal festive music and carol singing in the Library. Saturday – Caedmon Choir, performances at 1pm and 3pm. Sunday – Ayres and Gracenotes Choir, performances at 1pm and 3pm.

Description: To get round here swiftly you will need to be comfortable with sharp climbs and be nimble on your feet for the descents. Heatherlaw Light Railway
Name: Santa Special Train Rides
When: Sunday 13th & Sunday 20th December 2015

Description: Passengers are invited to travel to Etal Station and back on our Christmas decorated train. The train will be hauled by one of our steam locomotives “Bunty” or “Lady Augusta”. On returning to Heatherslaw Station passengers will be shown up to the model railway room, where they can enjoy refreshments for both adults and children. The model railway will be running to entertain the children while they are waiting to visit Santa. Families will be shown into the decorated grotto to see Santa, who will provide each child with a quality Christmas gift to suit the age of the child. For booking info click here.

Paxton House
Name: Christmas Cracker

Description: This lovely Palladian House is one of the finest examples of its type, take the opportunity to wander around this superb house which will be decorated in true festive spirit with Christmas Trees and Open fires to welcome you.
Activities for children will be held in the Education Room and Santa will be in the Library (additional charge).
There will be over 60 stalls selling a wide range of crafts and gifts and also our very own gift shop will be open, so do pop in and say hello! Stalls will be situated in the Picture Gallery, Hayloft Gallery, the Old Kitchen and our Marquee.
The Tearoom will be open, the `famous` hot turkey rolls with stuffing, and many more festive treats will be available to put you in the festive mood.
